Wike Sends Strong Warning Ahead Of Planned Nationwide Protest

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has reiterated his warning against any planned demonstrations, declaring that the nation’s capital is not available for nationwide protests.

Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, made this statement on Thursday while addressing FCT residents during an inspection tour in Saburi.

“For those who want to protest on the 1st, FCT is not available for such protests,” he said while urging residents to desist from embarking on such act.

According to the minister, organizing a protest won’t resolve the challenges currently facing the nation; instead, a joint effort from every well-meaning Nigerian is required.

He further stated that top political figures and other leaders who support the protest do not have the country’s best interests at heart and are acting out of selfish motives.

While acknowledging the prevailing poverty in the country, Wike emphasized that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration is doing everything possible to address the situation and improve the living conditions of all citizens.

He, therefore, called on Nigerians to exercise patience with the Federal Government.

This is the second time in a week that Wike has warned against the planned nationwide protest. On Tuesday, he described the planned demonstration as politically motivated, intended to divert Nigerians’ attention from the current administration’s efforts.
