Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has directed senior police officials to protect participants in the planned #EndBadGovernance protest scheduled for August 1 to 10, 2024.
This directive was detailed in a response letter from the IGP to human rights lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, who had requested police coverage for the protesters in a letter dated July 26, 2024.
In his response, dated July 29, 2024, and signed by his Principal Staff Officer, CP Johnson Adenola, the IGP instructed senior police officers to comply with Adegboruwa’s request.
Additionally, the IGP has requested a meeting with Adegboruwa in Abuja on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, “to deliberate further” on the matter.
