I Will Ensure No State Pays Wages That Are Higher Than That Of Edo – Obaseki

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the welfare of workers in the state, promising that no worker in Edo will earn less than those employed by other states.

Addressing civil and public servants at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy in Benin City, the governor emphasized that investing in workers is crucial to ensuring they are motivated and empowered to serve the people of Edo effectively.

He praised the workers for their unwavering dedication to the state’s development, noting that his administration has provided a conducive working environment and meaningful incentives to acknowledge their contributions.

Obaseki highlighted that his government has trained over 2,700 civil and public servants in areas such as digitization, information technology, and digital transformation. This training supports the government’s digital economy plans and improves the efficiency of government transactions.

Additionally, he outlined efforts to build and strengthen institutions to ensure the sustainability of e-governance reforms and other key initiatives within the state’s civil and public service.

Obaseki stated, “The new Edo will be driven by you, using technology. One of the considerations for promotion is that you have taken training on one aspect of technology to enable you to move to the next level. We will retain you in the service by improving your conditions of service and ensuring no state pays wages that are higher than that of Edo State.”

He added, “I will continue to work until my last day as a governor to ensure everything we started in the last eight is sustained.”
