BREAKING: Police Teargas Protesters At Lekki Toll Gate In Lagos

Protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos state were forced to flee for safety amidst a heavy security presence.

The protest, occurring under tight security, saw officers from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and other agencies strategically positioned at the toll gate.

A security operative initially instructed the protesters to join others at the designated locations, but when they defied the order, the police fired tear gas to disperse them.

This comes after a Lagos State High Court ruling on Tuesday, which restricted participants in the nationwide protest to specific locations within the state. Justice Emmanuel Ogundare, ruling on an ex parte application by Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), directed that protests could only be held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota and Peace Park in Ketu.
