List Of States That Have So Far Declared Curfew Amidst Ongoing Protest

The governments of Kano, Yobe, Borno and Katsina states have imposed a 24-hour curfew following violent incidents during protests against hunger.

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the curfew during a press conference at the government house on Thursday.

In Yobe, the curfew was enforced in the Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru local government areas after hoodlums reportedly exploited the demonstration to vandalize and loot both government and private properties.

Similarly, the Borno State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew following a suicide attack in Kauri, a village in Konduga Local Government Area, which resulted in 16 fatalities.

In Katsina, Acting Governor Malam Faruq Lawal has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area and from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. in the other 33 LGAs. He has also prohibited all protests throughout the state to maintain peace and order.
