The FCT Police Command on Saturday refuted reports claiming that its officers were responsible for the death of a teenager during the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protest in Abuja.
According to the reports, a yet-to-be-identified teenager was killed by police operatives in Kubwa while protesting on August 3rd.

However, the Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, issued a statement clarifying that the operatives were not responsible for the teenager’s death. She explained that the officers deployed to the area were equipped only with non-lethal anti-riot gear, which could not have caused the fatality.
Adeh further stated that FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, has ordered an immediate investigation to determine the actual cause of the teenager’s death. She urged residents to provide any relevant information that could assist in the investigation.
She also conveyed the CP’s condolences to the bereaved family and the public, assuring them that swift justice would be pursued and efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible for the tragic incident.
