List Of States Where Russian Flag Has Been Used By Protesters

As protests by Nigerians against prevailing hunger in the country entered Day 5, a notable feature in the protests in northern part of Nigeria is currently the use of Russian flags.

The article provides insight on the states in Northern Nigeria where the Russian flag have so far been used in the course of the protests.

Katsina State

On Monday morning in Katsina, some protesters waved Russian flags while chanting in Hausa, “Hunger is killing us.”

Kaduna State

On Monday, some angry protesters in Kaduna were seen holding the Russian flag as they chanted songs in Hausa and ran through the streets in protest.

Kano State

The protest in Kano State took a new turn on Monday, as demonstrators were spotted holding banners displaying the Russian flag.

The protesters, primarily underage boys, were seen chanting songs in Hausa and running through the streets as part of the demonstration.

Zamfara State

On Monday, some protesters in Zamfara were seen waving the Russian flag in Gusau, the state capital.

The demonstrators, who regrouped to express their grievances, condemned the ongoing security challenges plaguing the North-Western state.

Meanwhile, The Department of State Services (DSS) announced the arrest of several tailors suspected of mass-producing Russian flags in Kano State.

In a statement on Monday, the DSS also confirmed that some of the sponsors behind the operation have been apprehended.

Earlier, police authorities arrested several individuals suspected of mass-producing the flags in Nasarawa State.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has issued a warning to those flying the Russian flag, stating that it is a treasonable offence.
