A Day Before The Last Protest, Money And Russian Flags Were Shared To The Youths – Shehu Sani Speaks On Protests In The North

Former lawmaker Shehu Sani on Tuesday condemned the violence that followed the nationwide protests in the North, describing it as an attempt to overthrow the government.

Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s *Politics Today,* Senator Sani alleged that a few days into the protest, money and foreign flags were distributed among the youths in the northern region of the country.

He said: “A day before the last protest, money was shared to the youths, and Russian flags were also shared. That shows that the whole intent of the protest is not simply about the policies and programmes of the government,”.

“There was an attempt to create an atmosphere where there would be an overthrow of the government. When you have this kind of situation, you will see that someone is writing a script for anarchy, lawlessness, and disorder. It is incumbent for someone like us to speak.”

During the protests in Kaduna, Kano, and other northern states, some demonstrators were seen waving Russian flags and calling for military intervention.

The #EndBadGovernance protests, which began on August 1 and are set to last for 10 days, aim to demand the reversal of unfavorable government policies.

However, the protests have turned violent in certain states, including Kano, Niger, and Jigawa, resulting in casualties.
