On Monday, protesters had defied President Bola Tinubu’s Sunday broadcast by gathering at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota to continue their demonstration.

The organisers, Hassan Taiwo, Ayoyinka Oni, and Adegboyega Adeniji, representing the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Organising Committee, stated that they reconvened because Tinubu’s broadcast did not adequately address their demands.

The organisers expressed disappointment that it took three days of protests for President Tinubu to address the nation. They acknowledged the broadcast as an “important victory for our movement” but felt that the issues driving the protests remained unresolved.

In his broadcast, Tinubu affirmed his administration’s readiness to listen to and address the concerns of the protesters, stating that he had heard their calls “loud and clear.” He urged the protesters to suspend their actions and make room for dialogue.

Despite this, the organisers emphasized the significance of the President’s decision to address the nation but maintained their stance on the need for further action.
