How Soldier K!lled Teenager In Zaria Amid Protest

The #EndBadGovernance protest took a tragic turn in Kaduna State on Tuesday when a teenager was fatally shot by a soldier in the Samaru area of Zaria. Isma’il Muhammad, a 16-year-old, was reportedly shot inside his father’s house as security operatives enforced the 24-hour curfew imposed by the Kaduna State Government following violent protests in Zaria and Kaduna on Monday.

In a statement confirming the incident, the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, announced that the soldier involved in the shooting has been arrested and is currently being questioned.

According to the army spokesperson, the shooting occurred when hoodlums blocked the road, set fires, and attempted to attack the troops. In response, a soldier fired a warning shot to disperse the hoodlums, tragically leading to Isma’il Muhammad’s death.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, expressed his condolences and sent a delegation led by Major General Lander Saraso to visit and mourn with the deceased’s family.

This unfortunate incident unfolded amidst the curfew imposed by the state government on the Kaduna and Zaria metropolis. The #EndBadGovernance protest took a disturbing turn on Monday when opportunistic individuals posing as protesters engaged in looting government and private properties.

Additionally, some protesters were seen holding the Russian flag as they voiced their frustration with the prevailing hardship and hunger in the country.
