A former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election, Emmanuel Nwite, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Nwite’s shift to the APC follows closely on the heels of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, who recently joined the APC.

At his Ezzagu Ward 1 in Ishielu Local Government Area, Nwite showcased his APC membership and explained that his move was driven not by immediate political ambitions but by a desire to support the state governor, Francis Nwifuru.
Nwite, who joined the APC along with thousands of his supporters, praised Governor Nwifuru’s exemplary leadership, which he believes has resonated with the people despite the considerable power the governor holds.
According to him: “We are joining the APC to support our governor, Francis Nwifuru, to drive home his Ebonyi People’s charter of needs to all the nooks and crannies of Ebonyi state”.
“We are not joining APC for any immediate political interest. For those who may think that we are coming to hijack the political structure; for those who may think that we are coming to displace them, I want to allay your fears. We are coming to flex muscles with anyone because it is God that gives power and he gives it to whomever he pleases”.
