Why PDP Will Remain In Crisis – Bode George

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Deputy Chairman Chief Olabode George stated yesterday that the ongoing crisis within the party may continue due to the ambitions of certain leaders.

He argued that their “personalized ambitions” are causing division within the party and hindering efforts toward genuine reconciliation.

George said: “Elders of the party have to come into the room to resolve the personalised ambitions of people. That is what is killing our party.”

The retired commodore stated that the PDP’s founding fathers, led by the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme, set aside ethnicity and religion when establishing the party.

He noted that by dividing Nigeria into six zones and allocating the top six national positions among them—president, vice president, senate president, house of representatives speaker, secretary to the government of the federation, and national party chairman—the party promoted inclusivity and a sense of belonging.

George expressed concern that personal ambitions might lead to issues of marginalization and exclusion within the party.
