Former Osun Governor, Oyinlola Gets Fresh Appointment

Former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola has been appointed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to lead a 25-member National Reconciliation Committee.

The PDP has been grappling with internal conflict since its last Presidential primaries, which were won by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, who placed second in the primaries, has rejected reconciliation efforts from Atiku, with whom he later clashed during the election.

As a result, the party has become divided into pro-Atiku and pro-Wike factions, with members engaging in anti-party activities without consequence from the National Working Committee (NWC).

In a statement released on Friday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, it was announced that the National Working Committee established the reconciliation committee following approval from the National Executive Committee.

Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, former Governor of Gombe State, will serve as the committee’s secretary. The committee’s members include Chibudom Nwuche, Alhaji Bello Tafidan Gusau, Senators Ben Obi, Tunde Ogbeha, and Shuaibu Isa Lau, Dr. Esther Uduehi, Senator Zainab Kure, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Alhaja Mutia Olayinka Ladoja, Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu, and Ude Oko-Chukwu.

Other members are Dr. Boyelayefa Debekem, Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, Chief Dan Ulasi, Abdulsamad Dasuki, Segun Showunmi, Amina B.B. Faruk, Alhaji Hamza Akuyan Koshe, Mike Ikoku, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, and Bisi Fakayode.

The statement also noted that the committee’s inauguration date will be announced to all relevant parties.
