Vice-President Kashim Shettima has praised MTN Nigeria for its generous contribution of N1 billion to the Federal Government’s Food Support Programme.
Additionally, Mr. Shettima expressed gratitude for the company’s donation of 4,600 digital devices intended for distribution to schools.
The Vice-President’s remarks came on Friday during a courtesy visit from MTN Nigeria Chairman, Ernest Ndukwe, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He commended MTN’s efforts as exemplary and reflective of a strong commitment to supporting the Nigerian economy and alleviating hardship in the country.
“I am hugely proud of your (MTN’s) stability as a company and commitment to the progress of our country.
“We have witnessed a couple of changes in the industry, but you have remained stable and strong.
”On behalf of my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I want to sincerely thank you for this gesture.”
The Vice-President stated that the N1 billion donation from MTN Nigeria would be managed effectively by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
Regarding the 4,600 digital devices, each pre-installed with the U-lesson application, Mr. Shettima requested that the MTN team collaborate with his office to establish the criteria for selecting beneficiaries. He also noted that both the MTN team and the Office of the Vice-President would oversee the distribution of these devices to secondary schools across all six geopolitical zones.
He expressed confidence that this contribution would significantly aid the government’s efforts to strengthen the economy and support the educational needs of disadvantaged and vulnerable groups. Mr. Shettima encouraged other companies to follow MTN’s lead in Corporate Social Responsibility.
He assured the business community that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is supportive of business interests and that forthcoming policies would soon be evident.
Earlier, Mr. Ndukwe explained that the N1 billion donation was intended to assist the most vulnerable and underserved communities, ensuring no one is left behind through enhanced collaboration with the Federal Government.
He expressed hope that the donated devices would help achieve the Federal Government’s goals of increasing digital literacy in secondary schools and enhancing students’ creativity, analytical thinking, adaptability, and access to current information in science and technology.
Mr. Ndukwe commended the Federal Government for its efforts to revive the nation’s economy through various initiatives and reaffirmed MTN Nigeria’s commitment to supporting these efforts as part of its “AMBITION 2025” strategy. This strategy aligns with MTN’s goal to support strategic government initiatives.
