BREAKING: Court Takes Decision On Judgment In Rivers APC Crisis

A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt is set to deliver its judgment on Monday, August 12, 2024, regarding a suit filed by elected state, local government, and ward executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under Emeka Beke against the party’s national executive and the seven-man Caretaker Committee in Rivers State led by Tony Okocha.

Justice Sika Aprioku, who presided over the case, has reserved the judgment following the final arguments and written addresses presented by the parties’ counsels. The decision will be communicated within 48 hours.

According to a court circular, Justice Aprioku announced that the judgment will be delivered virtually at noon on August 12, 2024. He advised counsels to be punctual and noted that heightened security would be in place around the court.

Sam Etetegwung, representing the dismissed state executive of APC, along with Banarth Ezemoye and Ezekiel Ubom for the local government and ward executives, are seeking a judicial interpretation of the APC constitution and Nigerian law concerning their suspension and the subsequent inauguration of the Caretaker Committee led by Okocha.
