BREAKING: Court Sacks Rivers APC Caretaker Committee, Gives Fresh Order

A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has overturned the dissolution of the Emeka Beke-led executive of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

Presiding over the case, Justice Sika Aprioku ruled on Monday afternoon that the APC National Working Committee (NWC) had overstepped its authority by dissolving the elected executive led by Emeka Beke.

Justice Aprioku noted that the APC NWC does not have the power to dissolve a state’s elected executive or appoint a caretaker committee while the tenure of the elected body is still in effect.

As a result, the court invalidated the Caretaker Committee led by Chief Tony Okocha and reinstated the Emeka Beke-led executive.

Justice Aprioku also prohibited Tony Okocha and members of the Caretaker Committee from continuing to act as APC executives in Rivers State.
