This breach occurred shortly after the domain name was renewed for an additional five years, from August 13, 2024, to March 21, 2029, according to domain information analysis platforms.
A cybersecurity expert with experience in the Nigerian banking sector suggested that the bank’s login credentials might have been compromised, rather than the domain address itself being stolen for resale.
The bank is yet to issue any official response to this development.
