BREAKING: List Of Opposition Parties Who Won Councillor Seats In Bauchi Council Elections

Opposition parties made significant gains in Saturday’s local government council elections in Bauchi State, which is currently governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under Governor Bala Mohammed.

In Dass Local Government Area, Samira Maikano of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) was elected as the councillor for Wandi Ward with 1,610 votes. She defeated Bashir Abdullahi of the PDP, who received 1,352 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 230 votes. The results were announced by Returning Officer Nasiru Hassan.

In Darazo Local Government Area, Yunusa Muhammed of the African Action Congress (AAC) won the Papa North Councillorship Seat with 1,156 votes, surpassing Ashiru Muhammad of the PDP, who received 1,053 votes, and Idris Muhammad of the APC, who garnered 290 votes. Returning Officer Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar declared Muhammed the winner, stating he had met all legal requirements and secured the highest number of votes.

In Bogoro Local Government Area, the Labour Party, despite not fielding a candidate, received the highest number of votes in Lusa Ward. Lucy Yusuf of the PDP was declared the winner after receiving 2,168 votes, while the Labour Party received 2,200 votes and the APC 275 votes. The result was announced by Returning Officer Daniel Gambo.

A total of 323 candidates from 10 political parties contested for councillor seats in the state.

Results for the chairmanship elections are still awaited and will be announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission.
