Ukraine has reported the destruction of a second bridge across the River Seym in Russia’s Kursk region.
This attack marks the second such strike in just a few days and aligns with Ukraine’s ongoing cross-border offensive, which commenced on August 6.
On Friday, Ukraine targeted a bridge in the Russian town of Glushkovo. Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk confirmed the recent strike via Telegram, sharing an aerial video of the explosion near Zvannoye and noting, “Minus one more bridge.” He stated that these attacks aim to disrupt Russian supply lines.

Oleshchuk added that the Air Force continues to conduct precision airstrikes to impair Russian logistical capabilities, though he did not specify the date of the latest attack.
Following the strike, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the military’s actions and outlined their objectives for the first time.

In his evening address on Sunday, he stated, “Our guys are doing a great job in all areas.” Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of destroying Russian war potential and maximizing counteroffensive efforts, including establishing a buffer zone in the Kursk region.
Pro-Kremlin military bloggers confirmed the destruction of the bridge near Glushkovo, which is approximately 12km (7.5 miles) north of the Ukrainian border, noting it would disrupt supply lines. Zvannoye is located about 8km (5 miles) northwest.
According to Russia’s Mash news site, only one bridge remains intact in the area, potentially complicating Moscow’s efforts to resupply its forces and evacuate civilians.
Ukraine has remained relatively quiet about the broader objectives of its incursion, which began with tanks and armored vehicles in what is considered the largest attack on Russian soil since World War II.
Ukrainian military chief Oleksandr Syrskii claimed last week that Ukrainian forces had advanced across 1,000 square kilometers (390 square miles) of Kursk, though this claim has not been independently verified.
The incursion has bolstered Ukrainian morale as Russia continues its offensive in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.
On Sunday, Moscow announced it had captured the village of Svyrydonivka, located about 15km (9 miles) from Pokrovsk, a key logistics hub for Ukrainian forces.
Zelenskyy has urged Kyiv’s allies to lift remaining restrictions on the use of Western weapons against deeper targets in Russia, including Kursk. He believes that with adequate long-range capabilities, Ukrainian forces could significantly impact Moscow’s ability to advance and cause destruction.
Ukraine has accused Russian bases inside Russia of launching long-range attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, resulting in considerable damage and casualties.
On Sunday, Moscow targeted Kyiv with ballistic missiles for the third time this month, according to Serhiy Popko, head of the municipal military administration.
Zelenskyy reported that over the past week, Russia has launched more than 40 missiles, 750 guided aerial bombs, and 200 attack drones at Ukrainian villages and cities.
