The governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement for the September 21 election in Edo State, Dennis Aikorogie has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aikorogie announced his shift at an APC rally in Benin, the state capital, on Friday, explaining that he joined the APC to drive progress in the state.
He cited the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as a key influence in his decision, praising Okpebholo’s impressive track record of development.

Aikorogie expressed confidence that Okpebholo, known for his effective work as a senator, has the potential to bring similar transformation to the state as governor.

Aikorogie said, “I am here today to support the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.
“I am bringing my supporters, party members, and faithful to back Monday Okpebholo’s candidacy because we believe in his reliability and achievements. We need leaders who act rather than just talk.
“Senator Okpebholo has demonstrated his commitment to the people before his senatorial tenure. If elected governor, he will show empathy and contribute significantly to improving the state’s conditions, unlike those who suddenly appear with no prior track record.”
Aikorogie urged the people of Edo State to concentrate on Senator Monday Okpebholo’s potential to drive economic growth, create jobs, and enhance infrastructure, despite the challenges faced by the current federal government.
