Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has begun implementing the N70,000 minimum wage recently approved by the Federal Government.
President Bola Tinubu signed the new Minimum Wage bill into law a few weeks ago, following extensive negotiations with organized labor.

While many governors have cited economic constraints as reasons for not adopting the new wage, Governor Fintiri has started paying the increased salary to state workers from August 2024, with a promise that local government workers will see the rise starting in September.
This move has led to widespread celebration among civil servants in the state.
Sources, including state employees who have received their updated salaries, confirmed the development to Daily Trust.
Workers have expressed their gratitude, praising Fintiri as a “man of his word.” The implementation of the new wage is seen as a notable achievement for the Fintiri administration, which is often referred to as the “Fresh Air Government” by its supporters.
