Melaye Raises Strong Allegation Against Damagum, Bature And Anyanwu

Dino Melaye, the 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declared that the party’s era in the political sphere has ended.

He alleged that the PDP has become commercialized and privatized.

In a Saturday post on X, the former Kogi West Senator accused the acting PDP national chairman Iliya Damagum, national secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and national organizing secretary Umar Bature of undermining the party.

He wrote, “End of the road for PDP as Damagum, Bature and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party. We will talk about the commercialisation and privatisation of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time.”

Melaye’s outburst follows allegations made by PDP lawmakers in the House of Representatives against Damagum and Anyanwu.

The lawmakers accused these party leaders of undermining the PDP by supporting defected former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly with legal assistance, allegedly to facilitate an attempt to impeach Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara.

Spokesperson and Ideato Federal Constituency Representative, Ikenga Ugochinyere, outlined events he believed were part of a scheme by Damagum and Anyanwu to weaken the PDP.

In response, Damagum stated that no one could coerce him into resigning. He made this declaration during the inauguration of the PDP National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees in Abuja on Thursday, asserting that calls for his resignation were only serving to increase his popularity rather than diminish it.
