NiMET cautioned that the heavy rainfall could lead to flooding and advised residents to take precautions, especially avoiding flood-prone areas.

Public and airline operators are also encouraged to check NiMET for updated weather reports.

Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) reported that heavy rains have caused flooding in the northeast, resulting in at least 49 deaths and displacing thousands.

Jigawa, Adamawa, and Taraba states have been particularly affected, with 41,344 people displaced, according to NEMA spokesperson Manzo Ezekiel.
