The Super Eagles are gearing up to face Benin Republic and Rwanda in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month, with a strong squad announced.
Captain William Ekong, wing-back Olaoluwa Aina, and forwards Victor Osimhen and Taiwo Awoniyi have returned from injuries. Ekong, the AFCON 2023 Man of the Competition, missed the June World Cup qualifiers due to injury, alongside Aina, Awoniyi, and Osimhen.
The squad, released on Tuesday evening, includes three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards. Notably, Bendel Insurance’s Amas Obasogie is the only NPFL player in the 23-man list.

South Africa-based defender Olisa Ndah and Taiwo Awoniyi, who last featured in the November 1-1 draw with Lesotho, are also back.
The Super Eagles will play Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on September 7, then travel to Kigali to face Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium on September 10. Players are to report in Uyo by September 2.
Additionally, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced German coach Bruno Labbadia as the new Head Coach for the Super Eagles, who will aim for a strong start in these upcoming matches and beyond.
