President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Rotimi Akinde and Ifeoma Uz’Okpala as executive directors to the Board of the Bank of Industry (BoI).
According to a statement from Theodora Amechi, Head of the Press and Public Relations Unit at BoI, Akinde will be the Executive Director of Corporate Finance & Risk Management, while Uz’Okpala will serve as Executive Director of the Large Enterprises Directorate.
Both appointments took effect on August 26, 2024.
The statement noted that Akinde, a finance expert with over 20 years in investment and corporate banking, has a strong background in capital raising and corporate finance, including mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining BoI, he was an Associate Partner at Infrastructure Delivery International (IDI), where he worked on the UKNIAF programme and advanced green finance and structured debt solutions.
“He worked previously as the Corporate Finance Advisor at the Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (‘NIAF’), providing financing initiatives, modelling and funding structures for the infrastructure team.
“He served in Corporate Banking as the group head and assistant general manager of multinationals at UBA Plc, prior to which he was vice president of Corporate finance and advisory at UBA Global Markets (now United Capital).

The new Executive Director of Corporate Services previously served as a Privatization Adviser and head of the oil and gas team at the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
During his tenure, he managed the divestiture and sale of the federal government’s interests in 11 oil services companies and successfully sold all federal LPG assets.
He also held the position of Assistant Manager at Leadbank Plc within the Investment and Corporate Banking Groups.

Earlier in his career, he worked as an analyst with Barclays Funds in London. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, a Master’s degree in International Securities, Investment, and Banking from the University of Reading, UK, and an Executive MBA from INSEAD.
Uz’Okpala, who joined BoI in September 2014, initially served as Group Head of Large Enterprises Credit and later as Chief Risk Officer.
In her role as Chief Risk Officer, she was instrumental in managing risks related to the bank’s operations, providing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risk support, and guiding impact investments.
With over 30 years in the financial sector, Uz’Okpala began her career at International Merchant Bank and held key roles at MBC International, First Bank, Stanbic Bank, and UBA.
Her expertise spans internal auditing, corporate finance, credit evaluation, foreign operations, and risk management.
She graduated with a BSc in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria and completed an advanced program at the Lagos Business School.
Uz’Okpala is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB), and a member of the Chartered Risk Management Institute.
