According to Kicker, Labbadia turned down the offer due to the impatience of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in finalizing the contract negotiations.
Despite not having a signed and sealed contract with the German coach, the NFF media and communications team released a statement on Tuesday announcing the appointment.
The Super Eagles manager position remains vacant.
