Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has criticised presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi over his reaction to threat made by Amaka Patience Sonnberger to poison Yoruba and Benin People.
The former Anambra governor earlier condemned the threat made by Amaka Sonnberger, a Canada-based woman, against Nigerians of Yoruba and Benin descent.
In a video that began circulating on X.com on Tuesday, the woman’s voice is heard making derogatory remarks about Yoruba and Benin people during a virtual meeting on TikTok.
Speaking mainly in Pidgin English, she threatened to poison people of Yoruba and Benin origin.
In response to the video, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, identified the woman, and the House of Representatives has called for her immediate arrest.

Obi in his reaction wrote on X: “I utterly condemn the reported hateful statement and actions attributed to a Nigerian woman living in Canada against other Nigerians of diverse origins. Such divisive comments or behaviour have no place in our society.
“As Nigerians, we should unite and focus on addressing our shared challenges rather than allowing tribalism and hate to tear us apart. I have consistently stood against the polarisation of our country along tribal, religious or political lines.
“What does a nation achieve through tribal or religious bigotry? Does it contribute positively to development by fixing our numerous health and education challenges and pulling people out of poverty? Does it reduce the price of bread, rice, garri, or yam on the market?
“Does it improve our transportation system or enhance the electricity supply? Does it ensure good governance? The answer is a resounding NO!! Our priority should be to move Nigeria forward, regardless of tribe or religion.”
He added, “We, as Nigerians, must live together in peace and love, and ensure that we enthrone leaders based on integrity, competence, consistency, capacity, character and compassion, so as to overcome our present challenges and move the country forward in the right direction.
“Let us focus on what truly matters: building a prosperous, united, and equitable Nigeria for all. We must reject tribalism and religious division and embrace our shared humanity, working together towards a new Nigeria that is possible!”

Omokri took to social media to criticise Obi’s manner of reaction to Amaka Sonnberger threat to poison Yoruba and Benin People in Canada.
Omokri wrote: Dear Peter Obi, It is not only that it took you four days to condemn this woman after you were heavily criticised for your usual silence on any matter involving a person from your region, but you have also shown your deep seated tribalism in that three weeks ago, when you were condemning the Igbo Must Go episode, you mentioned the ethnic nationalities of all those involved.
However, when condemning Amaka Sunnberger’s threat to poison people of Yoruba and Edo origin, you refused to mention any ethnic nationality. You were vague and evasive. Why Peter? You treat Igbos one way, and treat other Nigerians in a different manner.

The call to Igbo to leave the Southwest was described as ‘Genocidal threats’ by Obi. Meanwhile, the threat by an Igbo woman named Amaka, to kill Yorubas and Edo is defined as a mere ‘Hateful statement’.
In Obi’s book, threats to kill are less harmful than threats to relocate. We are observing!
Peter, you are too parochial to govern a multi ethnic and religiously heterogeneous nation.
Maybe you are protecting Amaka Sunnberger, because you know she was inspired by your ‘religious war’ comments against the Muslim Ummah. After all, we know that a sizeable population of Yorubas and Edos are Muslim.
