Bayer Leverkusen’s impressive 35-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga came to an end as RB Leipzig staged a dramatic comeback to win 3-2.

Loïs Openda delivered the decisive blow late in the second half with a powerful long-range shot that beat goalkeeper Matej Kovar.

Leverkusen took the lead in the first half when Jeremie Frimpong evaded defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu and scored at the near post.

Openda equalized in the 57th minute with a shot from a tight angle, and then scored the winner with 10 minutes remaining.

Leipzig’s manager, Marco Rose, was sent off in the first half for protesting against referee Matthias Jollenbeck after a challenge on Openda by Jonathan Tah.

Leverkusen, who had only lost once in the Bundesliga since the final day of the 2022-23 season, saw their unbeaten streak end. Leipzig’s victory also extended their own unbeaten league run to 13 matches.
