Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has appointed retired Brigadier General Abdulkadir Gumi as the acting chairman of the Security Trust Fund Board of Trustees.
The announcement was made public through a formal statement issued by Abubakar Nakwada, the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, on Sunday in Gusau, as reported by NAN.

Mr Nakwada said: “The appointment takes immediate effect.”
Mr. Gumi is the brother of Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, a well-known Islamic figure often associated with controversy.
He has a background in the military, having previously served as the Director of Legal Services in the Nigerian Army.
His appointment comes after the resignation of M.D. Abubakar (rtd), the former Inspector-General of Police and the fund’s founding chairman.

The Security Trust Fund was established by Governor Dauda Lawal shortly after he took office to gather resources for enhancing security efforts against banditry and kidnapping in Zamfara.
According to Abubakar Nakwada, the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Governor Lawal chose Mr. Gumi for his notable credentials and exemplary leadership during his military career.
Lawal is confident that Mr. Gumi will effectively lead the board in achieving its goal of bolstering the state’s security infrastructure.
“His Excellency extends his best wishes to Brig.-Gen. Abubakar Gumi (rtd) in his new role and urges all relevant stakeholders to fully support him in realising the goals of the Board.
“The Board is expected to now begin delivering on its mandate to strengthen the security framework and support our security forces in the fight against banditry and other criminalities in all parts of Zamfara state,” Mr Nakwada said.
