Eguavoen Appoints Assistant Coaches

Interim Super Eagles manager Augustine Eguavoen has appointed Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede as his assistants for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

According to a statement from Ademola Olajire, Director of Communications for the Nigeria Football Federation, Enugu Rangers’ head coach Ilechukwu and Ogunmodede of Remo Stars will support Eguavoen for these upcoming fixtures.

“Ilechukwu led the Flying Antelopes to triumph in Nigeria’s elite division last season, with Ogunmodede’s Remo Stars in second place.

“They will be joined in Uyo by Tomaz Zorec, a fitness trainer from Slovenia, goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa and match analyst Eboboritse Uwejamomere,” Olajire said.

He stated that players and officials of the three-time African champions are expected to arrive in Uyo on Monday to begin preparations for Saturday’s match against the Cheetahs at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, scheduled for 5 p.m.

Olajire also mentioned that the team will depart for Kigali on Sunday in preparation for Tuesday’s Matchday 2 encounter with the Bees of Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium, which will kick off at 2 p.m.
