Okupe Sends Strong Message With Fresh Revelations To Those Criticising Him For Supporting Tinubu

Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former Director-General of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, has stated that those criticizing him for supporting President Bola Tinubu’s economic recovery plan are uninformed.

Okupe, who is also a former Presidential Spokesperson, made this statement on Monday in Lagos.

Some Nigerians have been hurling insults at Okupe on X (formerly known as Twitter) for supporting certain policies of the current administration.

Okupe described his critics as mere political urchins who have a habit of insulting those with more knowledge than themselves.

The former presidential spokesperson added that he has seen enough in the country to have a broader perspective than his detractors.

According to him, the project of Nigeria is bigger than any person or political party.

Okupe said: “Except we join hands together to move this country forward, we will be doing the future generations a huge disservice and adding to the sufferings of the masses.

“The Nigeria project belongs to all of us irrespective of the political party and political leader in power.

“We must, with all sense of patriotism, support whoever God has chosen by His supreme providence to lead.

“After elections, we must shield our swords, criticise government constructively and patiently wait till the next election. That is the culture of true and enduring Democracy”he said.

The politician expressed regret that many young Nigerians who insult their elders have little to no understanding of the country.

Okupe, who had resigned from the Labour Party some time ago, stated that those criticizing him have not considered the risk he took by supporting Obi against his own interests.

He emphasized that his support for Obi was based on personal conviction and his own free will, given unconditionally and without any expectation of personal gain, even though there were clearly more personally beneficial opportunities elsewhere.

Okupe also noted that he had agreed with Obi not to serve in his government if he won.

The former presidential spokesperson added that he volunteered to act as an elder statesman and private adviser to the President.

According to Okupe, Obi is still alive and can either confirm or deny his statement.
