Gunmen Shoot Security Guard In Party Secretariat In Rivers

Gunmen have reportedly shot a security guard at the Action People’s Party (APP) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The attack, which occurred at midnight, follows a recent bombing of the party’s secretariat in the New GRA area of Port Harcourt less than a month ago.

Sunny Wokekoro, the state chairman of APP, addressed journalists at the party’s secretariat on Wednesday, noting that the details surrounding the shooting are still unclear.

He confirmed that the injured security guard is receiving treatment at a hospital.

However, police officers stationed at the secretariat following the previous bombing have yet to provide any updates on the latest attack.

Wokekoro expressed concerns about the police’s ability to identify the perpetrators of this recent incident, especially given that no information has been disclosed about last month’s explosion.

He and other party leaders took journalists to the hospital where the security guard is being treated, but hospital staff prevented them from speaking with the victim.

Despite the attacks, Wokekoro assured that the APP remains committed to its activities and will participate in the upcoming local government elections next month.
