Barden Kano and reinstated district head of Bichi, Alhaji Idris Bayero, has passed away.
He was the eldest surviving son of the late Emir of Kano, Abdullahi Bayero (1926-1953).

The funeral prayers, led by the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, took place at the Kofar Kudu palace, attended by numerous mourners.
Alhaji Idris Bayero was first honored as Dan Darman Kano and district head of Rimin Gado in 1990 by his late brother, Emir Ado Bayero (1963-2014).

In 1992, he was elevated to Dan Buram and later Barde before being redeployed to Bichi as district head.
Born in 1934, he attended Kofar Kudu Elementary School, Kano Middle School, and the Institute of Administration at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He worked briefly with the Kano Native Authority, then as secretary of the Kano Emirate Council, and later at Nigeria Arab Bank before becoming district head.
Alhaji Idris Bayero retired in 2019 when Bichi was upgraded to a first-class emirate by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
In June, following the dissolution of the emirate and his reinstatement as emir by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Emir Sanusi reinstated him as district head of Bichi.
He is survived by a wife, eleven children, and many grandchildren.
