Prominent PDP Chieftain Kidnapped In Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of Benedict Akika, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by gunmen.

SP Adewale Osifeso, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, verified the incident in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Ibadan.

Akika was abducted on Tuesday evening from his residence in Olorunda Abba, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Osifeso stated that the command has initiated an investigation into the abduction and assured that the public would receive timely updates once the investigation is concluded.

“Investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates will be provided accordingly,” Mr Osifeso said.

An eyewitness reported that gunmen launched a well-coordinated attack on Akika’s residence in Olorunda Abba.

“The gunmen overpowered his security personnel and whisked him away in a vehicle, leaving behind a trail of panic and confusion in the community,” the witness said.
