Quan played a crucial role in popularizing Atlanta’s trap hip-hop sound, notably with his melodic rap style in tracks like “Type of Way” and “Lifestyle,” the latter featuring Young Thug and Birdman under Rich Gang. “Lifestyle” achieved platinum status in the US and significantly boosted both Quan’s and Young Thug’s careers. His 2015 hit “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” further cemented his place in hip-hop, with its dance moves inspiring the viral “Hit the Quan” trend on Vine.

Quan was set to perform at Nick Cannon’s Wild ‘N Out Live: The Final Lap tour in Atlanta later this month, alongside Waka Flocka, Nardo Wick, and Boosie.

Rapper Meek Mill paid tribute on Instagram, writing, “RIP Rich Homie Quan. Prayers to his family.” 2Chainz also expressed his condolences, mentioning their recent plans to shoot a music video together.

In a July interview with Revolt, Quan reflected on his legacy, stating, “Remember me as a hard kid from Atlanta with a dream, who believed in himself and bettered himself — and won.”
