Sad News On Former Rivers Lawmaker Lee Maeba Emerge

Former Senator Lee Maeba, who represented the Rivers South-East District in the National Assembly, has lost his mother.

Senator Maeba, who served in the Senate from 2003 to 2011 as Chairman of the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), was also a former governorship aspirant for Rivers State under the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections.

He served as the Vice Chairman of the Rivers PDP from 2001 to 2003.

The death of Maeba’s mother, Mrs. Erefori Nawa Maeba, was announced in a statement issued by his media aide, Letam Godgift, on Friday in Port Harcourt. Mrs. Maeba passed away on September 5, 2024, at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital in Port Harcourt, following a brief illness.

The statement read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs Erefori Nawa Maeba, a beloved mother, community pillar, and compassionate soul. Mrs Maeba passed away yesterday, September 5, 2024, at 11:45 am after a brief illness at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.

“The octogenarian was the beloved mother of distinguished Senator Lee Ledogo Maeba, who represented the Rivers South-East Senatorial District.

“She was widely admired for her love and great deeds for humanity.

“We offer our deepest condolences to the Maeba family and the community during this difficult time and extend our heartfelt sympathies to all touched by her life and legacy.

May her memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to all who knew and loved her.”
