Aide Reacts As Reports Of DSS Arresting Obi Surface

Valentine Obienyem’s media aide has clarified that the Department of State Services (DSS) did not arrest the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate from the last election.

Recent unverified reports had suggested that Obi, along with his wife Margaret, had been detained.

However, in a statement released on Tuesday, Obienyem firmly dismissed these reports as false and baseless.

Obienyem explained that the rumor first emerged on Saturday but was quickly debunked. He also noted that Obi was not in Anambra State at the time of the alleged incident.

“As of Saturday, Mr. Obi was in Rwanda attending to important engagements,” he said.

“He has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is actively involved in party and national matters.”

“There was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made,” Mr. Obienyem emphasised.

He urged the public to ignore these false claims and remain cautious about the spread of misinformation. He assured that any official updates regarding Mr. Obi will be communicated through appropriate channels.

“As the situation develops, Mr. Obi continues to focus on his commitment to the nation, while his team remains steadfast in providing accurate updates on his activities,” the statement read.
