Tinubu Takes Decision On 2024 National Honours Award

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the start of the 2024 National Honours Award to honor Nigerians and friends of the country who have made notable contributions to national development.

On Tuesday, Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Zaphaniah Jisalo, announced this during a meeting with senior staff of the ministry in Abuja.

The minister noted that the 2024 National Honours would also recognize Nigerians who have achieved excellence across various fields.

He assured that the nomination and selection process for the awards would be conducted with full transparency and that no fees would be charged at any stage.

The statement partly reads, “The forms and processes leading to the award of national honours are free of charge. People should not pay for national honours.

“Nigerians to disregard any payment requests and warned against fraudulent schemes related to the honours.”

Jisalo also mentioned that the public will soon be invited to submit nominations for individuals who have made notable contributions to the nation’s progress, in line with the National Honours Award Act of 2004.
