The Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed an appeal filed by Kenneth Imansuangbon, who sought to disqualify Olumide Akpata as the Labour Party’s governorship candidate for the September 21 election in Edo State.
In the lead judgment delivered by Justice Okon Abang, the appellate court ruled that Imansuangbon had failed to utilize the Labour Party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms before turning to the courts.

The court also determined that his case was legally premature, as the necessary conditions had not been met.
The unanimous judgment from the three-man panel of justices further noted that Imansuangbon did not present the contested results of the party’s primary election on February 23, which he claimed to have won.
