Things You Don’t Know About Commissioner Of Police Nemi Edwin-Iwo Posted To Edo Ahead Of Governorship Election

In August, Nemi Edwin-Iwo was appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for the Edo State Police Command.

He officially assumed his duties on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Edwin-Iwo succeeded CP Funsho Adegboye, becoming the 47th commissioner of the command.

According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, Edwin-Iwo previously served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of intelligence at the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Edwin-Iwo hails from Okrika Local Government Area in Rivers State.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Port-Harcourt and a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Ibadan.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has advanced through the ranks over the years.

His previous roles include serving as Assistant Commissioner of Police at the Bauchi State Command and as Commissioner of Police for the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) at Force Headquarters, Abuja, among other positions.

He has also served as the Police PRO in Lagos and Oyo states, as well as a Divisional Police Officer in Bayelsa State.

The new commissioner, who is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), has participated in various tactical and leadership courses both domestically and internationally.
