According to a memo on Friday, the suspension was decided by the Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 executive committee after a review of a disciplinary committee’s report on Melaye’s conduct.

The party determined that Melaye’s recent actions were harmful to the PDP’s interests and unity, leading to his suspension.

This action follows a pattern within the PDP of addressing anti-party behavior.

In August 2024, Peter Babalola, a party leader from Osun, was suspended for similar reasons and for failing to attend party meetings for two years.

Additionally, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom faced suspension by the Benue PDP for alleged anti-party activities.

Melaye’s suspension is coming amid calls for the suspension of former Rivers governor and now FCT minister, Nyesom Wike from PDP.
