Rep. Aliyu Betara (APC-Borno) has announced a donation of N100 million to assist the victims of the recent flood in Maiduguri, Borno’s capital.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, Betara, who chairs the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and displacement caused by the flooding in the northeastern state.

He commended the state government’s efforts to mitigate the impact of the disaster and extended his solidarity to the affected residents.
The lawmaker assured that necessary interventions would be coordinated through relevant institutions to support the rehabilitation of the victims.
Representing the Biu/Bayo/Shani/Kwaya/Kusar Federal Constituency, Betara called the flood disaster, caused by a failure of the Alau dam, “unfortunate.”
