FG Begins Distribution Of 1,000 CNG Conversion Kits To States

The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has begun distributing 1,000 conversion kits across various states to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

At a press conference in Abuja marking the start of this distribution, Programme Director Michael Oluwagbemi stated that the initiative aims to lower transportation costs.

He added that it is expected to create over 100,000 direct jobs in the next three years, with a goal of converting approximately three million vehicles during that time.

Oluwagbemi announced that the conversion for commercial transport operators will be provided at no cost to help reduce transportation expenses and counteract the impact of the subsidy removal.

Warehouse Manager Moses Onate, unveiling the kits at the PiCN facility in Ibafo, Ogun State, informed the media that the distribution is operating under the codename “First Come, First Serve.”

He noted that 450 kits have already been distributed, with 550 more pending.

Onate emphasized the importance of adopting this initiative, which aims to substantially lower fuel costs by enabling vehicles to run on compressed natural gas—a cleaner and more economical alternative to petrol.
