At least 15 people have died in a road accident that occurred in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident, which took place around 1 pm on Sunday, involved a J5 bus carrying children who were traveling to celebrate Eld El Maulud, a Muslim festival marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

According to Corps Commander Kabiru Nadabo, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kaduna State, the driver of the J5 bus lost control due to speeding and collided with an oncoming articulated vehicle, leading to the crash.
Out of the 63 children on board the bus, 15 died instantly, while 48 others sustained various injuries.
The injured were transported to Comprehensive Hospital in Saminaka by FRSC, Police, and Kaduna State Traffic Laws Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) officials. The deceased were taken to Dabo Lere Memorial Hospital, also in Saminaka.
