Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has suspended Otonye Briggs, the local government committee chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, effective immediately.

In a statement released on Tuesday, September 17, and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Governor Fubara announced the suspension and appointed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye as the caretaker committee chairman for the council.
Governor Fubara also instructed Briggs to transfer all council property in his possession to the new chairman.
