Court Takes Decision In Suit Seeking Sack Of NDDC Chairman Ebie

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has set October 31 to deliver a ruling and judgment in a case seeking the removal of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board Chairman, Chiedu Ebie, over his alleged wrongful appointment.

The judge fixed the date after parties in the suit presented their written arguments for and against the originating summons.

The case, brought by communities from Bayelsa and Delta states, accuses President Bola Tinubu of violating the NDDC Act by appointing Ebie, claiming he is not from an oil-producing area and therefore unqualified for the position.

During the hearing, the plaintiffs’ lawyer urged the court to dismiss the preliminary objection filed by President Tinubu and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, and to reject the respondents’ arguments for lacking merit.

Justice Abdulmalik, after considering the submissions, announced that her ruling on the preliminary objection and judgment in the main case would be delivered on October 31.
