President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to his elder cousin, Dr. Naheemdeen Ade Ekemode, who passed away at the age of 80.
In his heartfelt message, the President reflected on their childhood memories and praised Dr. Ekemode’s significant contributions as a gynaecologist with over 50 years of practice.
The tribute was conveyed through a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday.
Dr. Ekemode, who received his medical training in Egypt, also held the position of former chairman of the Lagos State Hospitals Management Board.

President Tinubu wrote, “Your passing has left an unfillable void in the hearts of our family. The fond memories we shared, from childhood through the many years we spent together, will forever remain in my heart.
“I will always cherish your bright smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness. As a physician, your compassion and care touched countless lives, and your legacy will endure through the people you healed, comforted, and uplifted.
“I fondly remember your sense of humour and your caring nature, which never failed to bring joy to those around you.
“Though we celebrated your 80th birthday earlier this year with hope for more shared moments, we take solace in the knowledge that you are now at peace, free from pain and suffering.”
The President also extended his condolences to the entire family, adding:
“In this time of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with your loved ones.
“The cherished memories we hold dear and the love you gave to us will provide strength and comfort during these difficult times.
“You may no longer be with us in body, but your spirit and the bonds we shared will live on in our hearts forever.
“May Allah grant you eternal rest, and His mercy and peace be with you always.”
