One insider disclosed that at least 15 charges have been filed against Ishaku, and he is expected to be arraigned in court soon, as evidence against him has been gathered.

“Yes, he’s in our custody right now. We have been investigating him covertly since he left as the State governor. There a lot of financial malfeasance he perpetrated,” the source said.

Another source revealed that Ishaku was detained after failing to provide satisfactory explanations regarding financial irregularities that occurred during his administration.

When reached for comment, EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrest but declined to provide further details.

Ishaku’s detention follows the ongoing dispute between the commission and former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello, who has been accused of embezzling N80.2 billion.
