Chelsea Vs Brighton & Hove Albion Full Time Match Report

Cole Palmer made history as the first player to score four first-half goals in a Premier League match, leading Chelsea to a commanding victory over Brighton and securing their place in third on the table.

In a thrilling encounter at a sunlit Stamford Bridge, the 22-year-old also struck the post and had another goal disallowed before halftime, as Chelsea’s speedy attack capitalized on Brighton’s stubborn high defensive line.

Brighton initially found the net twice, with both goals benefiting from mistakes by Chelsea’s former Brighton goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez.

After Georginio Rutter headed the visitors into the lead, Palmer took control of the match with an impressive individual performance.

He hit the post and scored from an offside position before opening the scoring with a pass from Nicolas Jackson, all within an electrifying 138 seconds.

Palmer then converted his 10th consecutive penalty for Chelsea after Jadon Sancho was fouled, and he completed a rapid hat trick with a stunning 25-yard free kick into the top corner.

His fourth goal came shortly after Carlos Baleba capitalized on a poor pass from Sanchez, giving Brighton a glimmer of hope.

Chelsea, who had previously scored six against Wolves, showcased their attacking prowess once again. However, Brighton’s decision to maintain their approach despite conceding multiple chances felt misguided, as young manager Fabian Hurzeler faced defeat for the first time.

The second half, predictably, was less eventful, although Palmer missed a great opportunity for a fifth goal when he shot wide.
