The Senate has summoned the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, to address concerns over the deteriorating condition of the Old Oyo-Ogbomosho road.
This decision was made on Wednesday following a motion of urgent public importance raised by Senator Buhari Abdulfatai (APC-Oyo North), who expressed alarm over the worsening state of the road.

The senator emphasized that the road, a crucial connection between the South and the North, has become a significant source of hardship for travelers.
Senator Abdulfatai noted that the deplorable condition of the road has caused considerable distress, often leaving many travelers stranded.
In response, Senate President Godswill Akpabio instructed the Committee on Works to present its findings to the plenary within three weeks.
He said, “For over 10 years, despite the Federal Government initiating major repairs on the road, it remains in a deplorable state, resulting in regular accidents and daily gridlock caused by articulated vehicles.”
